Breakfast burrito vs breakfast taco — a fair comparison

I ate one or the other every morning for a month — alternating daily — in an attempt to give both formats a fair trial. Here is where I landed: The breakfast taco wins on texture. The corn tortilla crisps slightly on the comal, the fillings stay separated rather than compressed, and you get a fresher assembly experience. The breakfast burrito wins on portability, fill quantity, and the way the resting period allows the components to unify. You cannot really eat a breakfast taco while commuting; the breakfast burrito was designed for exactly that. Both are valid. They are solving different problems.

The taco wins on texture and I will not concede anything else. But you are right that they are solving different problems. The burrito is a transport vehicle as much as it is a food format. The taco is meant to be eaten immediately in place.

The burrito wins on portability and fill quantity and those two things matter enormously at breakfast. I need something that can survive a bag and a commute and still be a complete meal. The taco is a sit-down format.
